Who I am

I'm Stacy Morrow, a communications strategist who has spent close to twenty years between music, media and the internet. I build audiences, I study how culture moves across borders, and I keep a running map of where that work takes me. This site is that map.

Right now

Three things have my attention: The Backroom, AI and big data research at the University of Denver, and meeting people in real life, for no reason other than actually being in the same room.

Now I vibe code

I used to hand the build to someone else. Now I build it myself. I learned to vibe code, which means I describe what I want and ship it with AI as my pair. This page, pokemonhunt.world and CoolStoryBro are all mine: the map, the departures board, the database behind the comments and the travel fund. No agency, no dev team, no waiting. If I can picture it, I can put it online.

Academic pursuits

I'm a graduate student at the University of Denver, working on an M.A. in Media and Globalization with a Graduate Certificate in Public Diplomacy. Before that I earned a B.A. in Communications from the University of Colorado Denver, after two years in the Music Business program. The long game is a research PhD in Mass Communications and AI.

Communications

I write media criticism at CoolStoryBro. Before that I ran campaigns at Synonymous and Fullscreen for brands like Disney, Hallmark Channel, Prime Gaming and Uber. My CoolStoryBro "Alice in Amsterdam" experiment reached 130,252 views across 53 countries in 40 days.

Music

I grew up in Tulsa and came up in dance music in Colorado. I ran the Bassnectar street team from 2007 to 2010, produced and booked shows nationwide with Juiceboxbox Events from 2007 to 2014, managed Jantsen's online presence, served as assistant director of the Denver DanceSafe chapter, and DJ'd on KDUR radio.

Gaming

Games are how I learned the internet, and this whole site is one. Carmen had the case files, I have the departures board. pokemonhunt.world is a hunt I built for the same people who grew up chasing clues on a map.
